THE JEWSON NOVICES HANDICAP CHASE (NEW RACE IN 2005)(20%); All winners finished 1st/2nd/3rd in all of last 3 completed starts (with last prep race 30-60 days earlier when finished either 1^st or 2nd) All 4/5 aged 7yrs with other aged 5yrs. All carried between 10st 4lbs and 10st 12lbs. Only 1/5 Irish trained winners so far.

3M PERTEMPS FINAL (HANDICAP HURDLE) (10%); Trip shortened from 3M 2F in 2007. 8/9 winners carried 11st 2lbs or less. Leading trainers are JJ O'Neill & N Twiston-Davies with 2 wins each - Irish trained horses have won 2/9 races. All past winners were rested between 31-42 days since last race. 6/9 winners finished 1st/2^nd in last race so generally the form works out reasonably well although there have been two 50/1 winners in the last six years!. All past winners were aged between 6-9 years .

2M 5F RYANAIR CHASE (PREV CATHCART CUP) (27%); The status of the race increased to Gr2 in 2005 and has been Gr1 since 2008 thus past trends may be affected by these changes.. N Henderson and P Nicholls are is the leading trainers with 2 wins each. All winners were well backed at odds of 9/1 or shorter. Like many of the races today the Irish raiders have failed to score! Viewed by some as the softer option for horses not quite up to Gold Cup winning standard.

3M WORLD HURDLE (PREV STAYERS HURDLE) (27%) ; All of the last nine winners finished 2nd or better in last prep race with all also finishing 1st/2nd in all completed races in the current season. Whilst favourite's record is relatively poor last nine winners all had SP's of 8/1 or shorter. The Cleeve Hurdle winner at Cheltenham in late January has provided the last 3 winners and 4 in total since 2000. Another blank race for the Irish trained runners! JH Johnson remains the leading trainer due to Inglis Drever's three wins.

Only 2 winners managed to carry more than 10st 12lbs with highest winning weight at 11st 7lbs. All finished 6th or better in last race. The race can be a nightmare for punters with 4/9 having odds of 25/1+ with all being at least 12/1!Another blank race for the Irish challengers.

3M 1F 'KIM MUIR' HANDICAP CHASE (AMATEUR RIDERS) (22%). All winners aged 7-10yrs although 9yo have the best record with 5/9 wins. Although this race provides quite a few surprises most past winners were 1st/2nd/3rd on at least one of their last two completed races. N Henderson is leading trainer with 2 wins in the race and it's another one where the Irish trainers have failed to score in the last decade.
