CLASSICS TIPPING CHALLENGE

Harold Woodward was the 2008 winner, Colin Malone was winnerin 2007 and John Boswell in 2006 - could it be you in 2009?

Are you a flat racing expert and up to the challenge?

For 2009 the competition will be open to members of both Northern Racing club and also Midlands Racing Club.

The races take place as follows:

May 2nd 2000 Gns at Newmarket

May 3rd 1000 Gns at Newmarket

May 23rd Irish 2000 Gns at Curragh
 
May 24th Irish 1000 Gns at Curragh

June 5th Oaks at Epsom 

June 6th Derby at Epsom
 
June 28th Irish Derby at Curragh
 
July 12th Irish Oaks at Curragh

Sept 12th English St Leger at Doncaster
 
Sept 13th Irish St Leger at Curragh

To register this year please send the entry fee with your first selection(s) by post or alternately enter using the Paypal option below.

Entrants will need to make a selection for each of the 10 races and send these on the day by e mail (info@northernracingclub.com); text to 07984 295327; or post to NRC at 53 Dalebrook Rd, Sale, M33 3LB (to arrive by the day of the race concerned)

Points will be scored by the first 4 placed horses in each of the classics with 5pts for the winner 3pts 2nd. 2pts 3rd and 1pt for the fourth placed horse.

The winning entry will be the one with the aggregate highest points total at the end of the competition.

For the first two races where no selection is received from an entrant an alternate selection will be made on the race favourite, after that if no selection is made no points will be scored unless the entrant selects a non runner when the favourite will be again used as the alternate selection (if joint favourites the lowest racecard number will prevail)

Multiple entries are acceptable although these must be numbered entry one, entry two etc so that they can be coupled with subsequent selections.

The entry fee is £5 (payable to Northern Racing Club) and the prize money will be awarded as follows:

Prize fund up to £125 - winner takes all

Prize fund £130-£200 - winner 75%; second 25%

Prize fund £205+ - winner 60%; second 25%; third 15%

ALL ENTRY FEES ARE USED TOWARDS THE PRIZE FUND WITH NO DEDUCTIONS MADE BY EITHER CLUB

As usual the results will be updated via the club's Yahoo web site and in both clubs newsletters.
