1. The competition commences on Saturday Nov 14th and finishes on April 10th being run over 4 separate rounds of 5 weeks duration - Dec 26th/April 3rd are void dates due to the fact many entrants are away on holiday at this time.
2. At the end of each round & the end of the seasonal competition the winner (s) will be the entrant(s) whose level stake profit is the highest in the appropriate period. If there is a tie, a tie break will be devised to decide the winner. Prizes are awarded as per rules 11&12.
3. An entry fee of £10 (covers all four rounds) is payable with only one entry per member allowed. Spouses/partners of members may however make their own entries. All entry fees are added to the overall prize fund.
4. The leading entrant at the end of the 4 rounds will retain the 'Tote Credit' trophy for one year at the end of which time the trophy should be returned to NRC in good condition. The trophy is usually awarded at a club social function.
5. All selections should ordinarily be made at Saturday Jumping (NH) fixtures in Mainland UK or Ireland with race times at 12 noon or later. Any other erroneous entries such as French racing or All Weather Flat fixtures will not count. On days when the weather is doubtful an alternate selection may be left in the event the first selection cannot run. If a horse is doubly engaged and doesn't run in the selected race the selection will still count if it runs in another race on the same day (unless the entrant specifically requests otherwise).
6a. For each round entrants will have a notional £1 per week to invest on a win only basis. If a non runner is selected then the favourite in the same race will become the selection unless a valid alternate selection is also made (see rule 5). 6b. If all Mainland UK and Irish NH meetings are cancelled then that week of the competition is deemed void on basis no entrant will receive any benefit. 6c. If entrants are away on holiday some weeks they can leave either an advanced selection (from ante post lists etc), a trainers selection or an unnamed favourite in a specified race. 6d. If there are more than one favourite or trainer's selected horse the notional stake will be split equally between the favourites/trainer's runners. 6e. Where no selection is received on a Saturday for the first missed day of each round only an alternate selection will be applied being the favourite on the most valuable NH race of the day on mainland UK (or Ireland if all UK meetings are cancelled) - if more than one race has the same prize money then the race off first will be used. . For 2nd or subsequent missed days no points will be scored/deducted.
7. Returns are based on SP's unless Tote Odds are clearly specified, with 'Tote Credit' rules applying to all settlement calculations. e.g. dead heats/withdrawn horses etc.
