18th FEBRUARY 2010 - AN EVENING WITH THE OFFICIAL HANDICAPPER

Martin Greenwood (official handicapper) has kindly agreed to come along and speak to NRC members on an informal Q and A basis.

By way of background in 1983 Joined Timeform straight from school as office junior. Martin enjoyed several promotions, and experienced most jobs on offer there, essays, comment writing, pedigrees, trainer interviews, etc. Started handicapping early 90's, senior NH handicapper when left in 2001.
 
Joined BHB 2003 and promoted to senior handicapper in 2006.
 
 
Martin is also  the bass player with Finton Stax and a Burnley FC season ticket holder!

We will be booking a small room (holding around 25-30 guests) at the Rams Head Inn Grappenhall (close to M6 & M56 junction) with an optional meal taken at 7pm and the meeting starting at 8.30pm

An entry charge of £5pp is required (plus cost of meals if taken).

In order to guage interest and ensure that we are not overbooked we shall be asking members to pre-book places for this event. Requests for places can be sent to NRC at 53 Dalebrook Rd, Sale, M33 3LB.

CHELTENHAM PREVIEW NIGHT - SUNDAY 14TH MARCH 6PM START
 
The club has booked the Tetley Club in Warrington for this event. As soon as the panel is confirmed the web site will be updaed.
 
Tickets will be available in advance at £8 or £10 on the night and will include a £4 voucher to be used either for a Cheltenham Guide purchase on the night or to be used for free admission to the club's Aintree preview (see below).

RACING POST CHELTENHAM GUIDE - SPECIAL MEMBERS OFFER
 
This guide will be available in late February from the Racing Post at £9.99 + postage. It contains over 190 pages of facts and figures plus racehorse profiles covering the 4 day festival.
 
You can save £4 by ordering from NRC (£5.99) plus £1 to cover postage. The books will be despatched as soon as received from the Racing Post (late February). RICHARD FORD STABLE VISIT - SATURDAY MARCH 20TH 10.30AM
 
The club's first stable visit of the year will be to Richard's new yard near Newcastle, Staffs.
 
As usual the club will collect donations towards a gift for the stable staff on the day and a sum of £4 per member or £5 per guest is requested when booking.
 
Please send requests for places to Dave Bates, NRC, 44 Burtonwood Rd, Great sankey, Warrington, WA5 3AJ. Please include a contact phone number/e mail address in case of any late changes. A 1st class SAE should also be enclosed for copies of stable directions etc.
 
Please note that Uttoxeter are staging their Midlands Grand National card in the afternoon and the visit will be completed in good time to allow members to get there if they wish.

AINTREE PREVIEW NIGHT - WEDNESDAY APRIL 7TH 8PM
 
The club has booked the same venue as last year being the Aintree British Legion Club in Aintree on the main Ormskirk Road adjacent to Old Roan station and about a mile away from the racecourse.
 
The post code is L30 8RA if using mapblast, satnavs etc.
 
The panel will be announced here in due course.
